Turlock motorcyclist killed in crash on North Golden State

A Turlock motorcyclist died Monday after the driver of a sedan turned in front of him on North Golden State Boulevard, according to Turlock police.

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified the motorcyclist as 32-year-old Owen McDonald.

The collision occurred around 4:20 p.m. when the driver of a Hyundai Accent attempted to make a left turn onto North Golden State from Pedras Road, according to a press release from the police department. McDonald was traveling north on North Golden State and crashed into the driver’s side of the Hyundai.

McDonald was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified only as an adult female, was treated at a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

“The Turlock Police Department is still in the early stages of investigating this collision, however, investigators can say that speed and alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision,” according to the press release.

The roadway was partially closed for nearly five hours while officers investigated the collision.

The Turlock Police Department asks that anyone with information call Traffic Officer Michael Simbalenko at 209-668-6523. You can also contact the Turlock Police Department’s Tip Line at 209-668-5550 extension 6780 or email at tpdtipline@turlock.ca.us.
