A body was recovered from a mobile home that burned on North Prairie Flower Road west of Turlock on Sunday morning.

According to a post on the Facebook page of the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit, the Turlock Rural Fire District responded to the two-alarm fire.

Firefighters located the victim, whose body later was recovered with the assistance of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, the post says.

The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.

Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Luke Schwartz said his department is handling just the coroner’s part of the investigation, but nothing at this point indicates foul play. The autopsy of the victim was set for Tuesday morning.

The victim was male, but no positive identification had been made as of early Monday morning, the Coroner’s Office reported. There was no report of other injuries in the fire.

We’ll have more information as it’s available.
