Victim airlifted after falling three stories from apartment balcony in Turlock
A Turlock man was airlifted to a hospital Monday night after falling from a third-story apartment balcony, police said.
Officers and medical responders were dispatched to an apartment complex on the 3000 block of West Christoffersen Parkway shortly before 9 p.m. on a report of a subject who fell or possibly was pushed from a balcony, Turlock Police Department spokesman Sgt. Michael Parmley said.
They found that a 41-year-old man had fallen and suffered potentially life-threatening injuries, so he was taken by helicopter to a trauma center as a precaution. Information on the type of surface the man landed on and the injuries suffered was not available Wednesday morning.
Witnesses reported hearing and seeing an altercation between the man and a woman in the apartment, Parmley said. Initially, there was suspicion the man had been pushed, “but we don’t think that now, because of what the female said and what witnesses stated,” he said.
Both the man and the woman confirmed they were arguing, Parmley said. Alcohol also appears to be a factor. The “potential accident” remains under investigation, the sergeant said, but from what is known, he does not expect an arrest will be made in the case.
