Turlock boy whose recorded assault was circulated on social media gets new bike, shoes
An anonymous donor has replaced the shoes and bicycle of the Turlock Junior High student who was robbed and assaulted during an incident caught on camera last week, the school district reported Wednesday.
The video that circulated on social media shows another boy hitting the victim as he pleaded for him to stop.
Police said three juvenile suspects were involved and took items from the victim prior to the recorded assault.
Turlock Police Sgt. Mike Parmley said the assault and robbery remain under investigation and no one had been arrested as of late Wednesday morning.
The Turlock Unified School District posted on its Facebook page Sunday evening that it had identified the student perpetrator and is “responding with our district disciplinary process to hold all responsible accountable and to provide immediate support to the victim.”
On Wednesday the district tweeted, “We are happy to report that a donor, who would like to remain anonymous, has replaced the shoes and bike that were stolen from our Turlock Junior High School student last week. Thank you to the many folks in the community who reached out asking for ways to help!”
