Turlock police searching for man wanted on attempted murder in gang-related shooting

Turlock police are searching for a local man wanted for attempted murder in connection to a shooting earlier this month.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 21-year-old Ceres resident Thomas McAbee. According to a press release from the Turlock Police Department, McAbee was involved in a shooting March 8, on the 1400 block of South First Street in Turlock.

Police were called to the location at 7:30 a.m. According to the release, a male victim and his female associate arrived at the home on South First Street and shortly after a vehicle occupied by McAbee and 21-year-old Turlock resident Luiz Martinez pulled up to the house.

Turlock police said the two men confronted the male victim in front of the home and challenged him to a fight. The man began to leave in his vehicle and authorities say McAbee and Martinez both fired at him. According to the release, the motive for the shooting was the victim’s alleged gang affiliation.

Martinez was arrested for attempted murder March 12, and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail with additional allegations of participation in a criminal street gang and the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He remained incarcerated Thursday, with bail set at $800,000.

A Ramey Warrant has been issued for McAbee on the charge of attempted murder, participation in a criminal street gang and the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Turlock police said McAbee should be considered armed and dangerous. The public is being asked not to approach or contact him, but call 911 if he is spotted.
