More than 1,200 third-graders from 11 schools in the Turlock and Keyes area learned about farming and food processing Friday during Ag EdVenture Day at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds. The displays that showcased the industry of the local agriculture community included fruit, livestock, plants, eggs, tractors, rainfall and dairy. Kids had a chance to transplant a tomato to take home with the Modesto Junior College ag department. Ag studies students from California State University, Stanislaus, acted as tour guides. The annual event was sponsored by the fair, the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau and the Turlock Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee.
