Firefighters in Turlock put stop to trailer blaze
Firefighters acted quickly when a travel trailer caught fire in Turlock Thursday afternoon, keeping the blaze from spreading to a nearby car and house.
Firefighters responded to the blaze at Syracuse Avenue and Stanislaus Street at 2 p.m., according to a news release issued Friday. Several passersby reported seeing the flames.
“Smoke could be seen from miles away as firefighters arrived at the fully engulfed trailer,” Turlock Fire Chief Robert Talloni said in the release. He was among the 13 firefighters who responded to the scene.
The fire in the 20-foot travel trailer was threatening a large wooden storage garage nearby. “Crews quickly attacked the fire, preventing it from spreading to the garage, which ultimately saved the structure,” the release said. “Two 30-pound propane cylinders mounted to the front of the trailer were also left undamaged due to the quick response and fire attack.”
A small spot fire in dry grass about 100 feet from the main fire also was quickly extinguished. Firefighters also sprayed down a neighboring wood shake roof.
They contained the fire quickly in triple-digit heat.
No injuries were reported.
Investigators determined the fire was caused by overloaded electrical wires and circuits.
