They tried to pass themselves off as firefighters. Residents weren’t buying it.
A man and woman were arrested Thursday in Turlock on suspicion of impersonating firefighters and fraud, authorities said.
Melissa Annis, 30, and Jay Jackson, 54, both from Merced, were taken into custody after police were sent several cell phone photos of the pair who were dressed as firefighters and soliciting people for money near Monte Vista Crossings.
Police arrived to the area and found Annis and Jackson near the AM/PM near the intersection of Fulkerth Road and Countryside Drive.
They were taken into custody.
