Oakdale business owner stabbed confronting burglars
An Oakdale cafe owner was stabbed Tuesday night when she confronted two men trying to break into her business.
The proprietor of the Cottonwood Cafe and her adult daughter went to the business at 154 S. Yosemite Ave. at 9:40 p.m. to drop off groceries, said Lt. Keri Redd. They went through the restaurant’s patio to enter through the back door and found the men trying to break in.
The owner confronted them and one of them responded before “slashing” her forearm with a knife. Redd would not say what words were exchanged between the victim and the suspects.
The assailants ran from the cafe and the owner’s daughter called police. The owner was treated at a local hospital for her injuries.
One of the suspects is described as a Latino man, about 5 foot 4 inches tall and 195 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
The other suspect is described as a black man, about 6 feet tall with “yellow” eyes. He also was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call the Oakdale Police Department at (209) 847-2231.
