Pedestrian killed in early-morning crash on Highway 108 near Oakdale
A 29-year-old Oakdale man was killed early Wednesday morning when he was struck by a pickup truck while walking along Highway 108 east of Langworth Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at about 3:25 a.m.
Emergency personnel arrived to find the unresponsive man lying in the roadway near a Ford pickup truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP officials said.
A preliminary investigation determined a 67-year-old Modesto man was driving the Ford pickup east on Highway 108 when the pedestrian was walking south directly in front of the vehicle.
The driver was not injured and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs , according to the CHP. It was not immediately known whether the pedestrian was impaired.
The identity of the pedestrian has not been released pending notification of family. The crash remains under investigation.
