Oakdale man killed in motorcycle crash near Woodward Reservoir

An Oakdale man died Monday evening when he crashed his motorcycle on 26 Mile Road, south of Woodward Reservoir.

The 41-year-old rider was traveling south, south of Dunn Ranch Road, when for unknown reasons he allowed his motorcycle to leave the roadway and travel onto the gravel shoulder, according to the California Highway Patrol. He turned to get back onto the road but lost control and was ejected from the motorcycle.

The man was taken by ambulance to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, where he was pronounced dead. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday identified him as Benjamin Hazelwood.

According to a GoFundMe set up to cover expenses for a celebration of life, Hazelwood was the father of three children.

“He had a heart of gold and gave the best hugs,” according to a post on the page.
