Amaral has close early lead in special election for Oakdale City Council vacancy
Bob Amaral had a narrow early lead Tuesday night for a vacant seat on the Oakdale City Council.
The retired correctional officer had 314 votes, or 24.6%, among the votes received through Monday by the Stanislaus County election office.
In second place was Kevin Davis, who was on the ballot but did not actively campaign. He had 307 votes, or 24.%.
Kayleigh Gilbert received 276 votes, or 21.6%. Jennifer Harris was at 229 votes, or 17.9%. Anthony Pratt had 152 votes, or 11.9%.
The winner will serve through 2024 in the seat vacated Ericka Chiara in December.
