Stanislaus coroner identifies two Oakdale residents killed in Thanksgiving crash

Two Oakdale residents killed in a high-speed crash early Thanksgiving morning were identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office Monday.

The victims are driver Jorge Galan, 29, and his passenger, Martin Gonzalez, 27.

They were in a Ford Fusion heading west on Greger Street, just outside the city limit near Kaufman Road, around 2 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Traveling at high speed, Galan failed to negotiate a turn and struck a raised curb.

The Fusion continued northwest and struck a tree and then a town home east of Wild Stallion Drive. No one in the residence was hurt.

The CHP release says neither Galan nor Gonzalez was wearing a seat belt. Both were declared dead at the crash scene.

The CHP is investigating whether alcohol or drugs factored in the crash.
