One dead in accident on Highway 108/120 east of downtown Oakdale

A woman was killed Friday afternoon after the vehicle she was driving was involved in a wreck with a pickup and a big rig east of downtown Oakdale.

There was little information on what led to the accident on Highway 108/120 at Stearns Road at about 4:45 p.m.

According to Janeen Yates, spokeswoman for the Oakdale Police Department, a Mustang driven by the woman and a man driving a pickup were heading west on Oakdale. A big rig driven by a man was heading east.

Yates said it was not clear how the accident occurred – whether somebody drifted into another lane, someone was attempting to turn on Stearns Road or if someone was rear-ended and pushed into another lane.

The California Highway Patrol was on scene investigating.

The drivers of the pickup and big rig suffered minor injuries, Yates said. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.

That stretch of Highway 120 remained closed as of 6:45 p.m. Westbound traffic was being rerouted at Wamble Road and eastbound traffic at South Stearns.

We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
