Stage is set for Stanislaus County graduates’ last hurrah

Da, da-da-da, daaaaaa, da ... Those who find themselves humming “Pomp and Circumstance” this week will be in tune with the times.

California State University, Stanislaus, will hold its commencement ceremonies Thursday and Friday. The largest group will walk at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, receiving undergraduate degrees from the College of Arts, Humanities and Social sciences, and the College of Education, Kinesiology and Social Work. Nine members of the Stan State Class of 1966 will be on hand to cheer them on.

At 6 p.m. Thursday, university students receiving graduate degrees from all majors and teaching credentials will take a bow. On Friday at 9:30 a.m., those getting bachelor’s degrees from the College of Business Administration and the College of Science will be honored, with Stan State President Joe Sheley making his final address before retiring.

Modesto Junior College and Columbia College graduates took their bows April 29.

Here is a rundown of area high school graduation ceremonies:

Tuesday

Davis High will applaud the Spartans of 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at the Johansen High stadium, 641 Norseman Drive. Downey High will cheer on its graduates starting at 7 p.m. in Downey stadium, 1000 Coffee Road.

Gregori High seniors will march at 7 p.m. at the Gregori stadium, 3701 Pirrone Road. Modesto High will salute its seniors beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Modesto Junior College stadium on the east campus. The stadium is on Tully Road between Coldwell and Stoddard avenues.

Wednesday

Beyer High Patriots will march at 6:30 p.m. at the Modesto Junior College stadium. Johansen High will live-stream its graduation ceremony, starting at 7 p.m. at the Johansen High stadium. Enochs graduates at 6:30 p.m. at its campus.

Thursday

Pitman High will hold its ceremony at 7 p.m. at the Pitman amphitheater, 2525 W. Christoffersen Parkway, Turlock.

Riverbank High graduates will march at 6:30 p.m. at the campus, 6715 Seventh Street, Riverbank.

Friday

Denair High Coyotes will walk the stage at 7:30 p.m. at the campus, 3134 Lester Road, Denair.

Hughson High will cheer its graduating Huskies at 7:30 p.m. at the school, 7419 E Whitmore Ave., Hughson.

Oakdale High grads will walk at 7 p.m. in Oakdale High Stadium, 168 S. Third Ave., Oakdale.

Orestimba High will hold its ceremony at 7 p.m. in the football stadium, 707 Hardin Road, Newman.

Ripon High seniors will march at 7 p.m. in the football field, 301 N. Acacia Ave., Ripon.

Turlock High will wave off the Bulldog Class of 2016 at 7 p.m. in Debley Stadium, 1600 E. Canal Drive, Turlock.

Waterford High seniors will march at 8 p.m. in the Waterford High stadium, 121 S. Reinway Ave., Waterford.

Big Valley Christian High will hold its graduation at 7 p.m., 1020 Pelandale Ave., Modesto.

Modesto Christian High will graduate its seniors at 7:30 p.m., 5901 Sisk Road, Modesto.

Turlock Christian High will cheer on its grads at 6:45 p.m. at Monte Vista Chapel Worship Center, 1619 E. Monte Vista Ave., Turlock.

Saturday

Central Catholic High School will hold its graduation at 10 a.m. at the campus, 200 S. Carpenter Road, Modesto.

June 2

Patterson High seniors walk at 8 p.m. at the football stadium, 200 N. Seventh St., Patterson.

Ceres High will cheer its Bulldog graduates at 7:30 p.m. at the campus, 2320 Central Ave., Ceres.

June 3

Central Valley High graduates will march at 7:30 p.m. at the campus, 4033 S. Central Ave., Ceres.

Escalon High will gather to salute its seniors at 7 p.m. at the campus, 1528 Yosemite Ave., Escalon.
