MC Hammer to deliver address at Tracy commencement
Stanley Burrell will be the commencement speaker at Delta Charter High School.
If that doesn’t ring a bell, perhaps you know him better by his stage name: MC Hammer.
According to a news release from Jeff Tilton, deputy superintendent of New Jerusalem Elementary School District, “This is going to be a really special treat for the students and their families.”
Burrell’s son is a student at the school southeast of Tracy. “MC Hammer told me he is planning something that will really inspire the students with his keynote address,” Tilton said in a news release.
The ceremony is set at noon May 21 in the school’s Teranishi Event Center. It’s free, but tickets are required for admission.
If you don’t know a graduate, you can still get a peek at Hammer time. Delta Charter video media students will broadcast the ceremony live on the Internet, Tilton said.
Hammer won stardom in the early 1990s for songs such as “U Can’t Touch This” and “2 Legit 2 Quit.” He also was known for glittery style and baggy pants.
