Modesto’s Central Catholic High getting new principal
Bruce Sawyer will take the helm as principal of Central Catholic High School in Modesto, effective July 1.
“I have a strong desire to help young people develop what I call a social conscience in which they can expand their horizons of significance; to give them the ability to encounter and serve, in a real way, those things that are truly significant to them, like God, family, community and the greater good,” said Sawyer in a statement released by the school.
“I believe Central Catholic is the perfect place at which to fulfill that mission. I am thankful for this opportunity and eager to begin this ministry,” he said.
Sawyer has spent the past four years as assistant principal in the Tracy Unified School District. He holds a bachelor’s degree in social science from Chapman University and an administrative services credential from Brandman University. He has worked in education for more than 30 years.
Interim Principal Russ Antracoli will retire at the end of the school year.
Central Catholic High School, founded in 1966, is a private, college preparatory, Roman Catholic high school serving 373 students.
