Enochs High in Modesto and Hickman Charter in Hickman took first place in the Science Olympiad over the weekend and will advance with other winners to the Northern California championships coming up April 16 in Turlock.

More than 550 students competed in the 30th annual Stanislaus County Regional Science Olympiad on Saturday at Modesto Junior College. The hands-on events showcase team skills and learning in biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, problem-solving and technology.

The top four teams in the middle school and high school divisions move on to compete in the NorCal Science Olympiad State Finals to be held at California State University, Stanislaus, in Turlock.

The first- through fourth-place high school finishers, in descending order, were: Enochs High Gold team; Oakdale High Gold team; Central Catholic High and Modesto High Crimson team.

The first- through fourth-place middle school finishers, in descending order, were: Hickman Charter; Turlock Junior High Black team; La Loma Junior High Green team of Modesto and Sacred Heart Catholic School of Turlock.
