Modesto City Schools board to discuss filling vacancy
The Modesto City Schools board will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday to discuss options to fill the seat of Rubén Villalobos. Villalobos resigned effective Sunday to become a Stanislaus Superior Court judge.
The board can decide to fill the empty seat by appointment until the next regular election. In November, voters would elect a trustee to fill the two years then remaining on his term. Villalobos was first elected to the board in 2009 and re-elected in 2013.
Trustees also could vote to hold a special election to fill the seat. The agenda suggests a provisional appointment is expected, listing the choice as a five-minute discussion, devoting the remainder of the hour to consideration of appointment procedures.
The meeting will be in the staff development building, 425 Locust St., across from the district office.
