TURLOCK UNIFIED BOARD TO MEET

The Turlock Unified School District board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Professional Development Center, 1100 Cahill Ave., Turlock. The board will consider a contract for some support staff that includes a 4.2 percent raise in pay plus 1 percent boost in benefits, retroactive to July 1. The contract with Turlock Classified-American Federation of Teachers will raise district costs by $292,354 for this school year. In other business, trustees will be asked to accept $35,846 in donations for the district ag farm from local businesses, including FF&J Architects and North American Pipe. The board also will hear a presentation on the newly opened Fusion Charter school, its programs and restorative discipline policy. See the full agenda at http://turlock.agendaonline.net/public.

RETIRED TEACHERS TO MEET

The local Stanislaus Chapter of CTA/NEA-Retired will hold its quarterly meeting at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at the Hilmar Cheese Company, 9001 Lander Ave., Hilmar. The group is an affiliate of the California Teachers Association and the National Education Association. After a guided tour of the facility, there will be a no-host lunch and business meeting at the Hilmar Cheese cafeteria. Discussions will include membership growth, Service Center elections and the annual CTA conference in San Jose in March. All retired educators are welcome.
