AFS students to give presentations on homelands at Salida branch of library
AFS Intercultural Programs USA will hold a Thanks-for-Giving Celebration with exchange students from around the world in a program and potluck starting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Salida branch of the Stanislaus County Library.
The Sierra San Joaquin Area of California is hosting 13 students this year from Japan, Paraguay, Norway, Germany, Spain, Thailand, Hungary, Bolivia and Italy. There are students placed in Ripon, Manteca, Modesto, Turlock, Murphys, Sonora and Angels Camp, along with others in Mariposa, Fresno and Visalia.
The students each will give a five-minute presentation about their country and take questions from the group. Attendees are encouraged to bring a potluck dish of a favorite food, perhaps highlighting their own ethnic origin.
The cultural exchange will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Salida library, 4835 Sisk Road, Salida. RSVP to 559-259-2586.
