RIVERBANK UNIFIED BOARD TO MEET
The Riverbank Unified School District board will meet at 5:30p.m. Tuesday in the district boardroom, 6715 Seventh St. Trustees will discuss the 2013-14 audit, showing the district dipped $214,487 into reserves to finish the year, down from $1.9million in deficit spending the year before. The audit recommends stronger internal controls and corrections for two School Accountability Report Cards. The board will also consider job descriptions for an English learner resource teacher and a technology resource teacher for the district’s dual-language charter, Riverbank Language Academy. SYLVAN UNION FALL BOARD RETREAT
The Sylvan Union School District board will meet at 5:30p.m. Tuesday at 2316 O’Farrell Ave., Modesto, for a board retreat. There will be a closed-door conference with the district labor negotiator before reconvening to a governance study session. NEWMAN-CROWS LANDING BOARD TO MEET
The Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District board will meet at 6p.m. Tuesday at the McConnell Adult Education Center, 1348 Patchett Drive, Newman. Trustees will get an update of its program improvement status under the federal No Child Left Behind Act and approve contracts with tutoring services required by the act. MANTECA SCHOOLS SPELLING BEE
Manteca Unified will hold its annual spelling bee at 6:30p.m. Nov.13 in the theater building of Manteca High, 450 E Yosemite Ave. The event is organized by the elementary education department. The master of ceremonies will be Shasta Elementary Principal Audrey Greene, and the spelling master will be Nile Garden School Principal Debbie Noceti-Ward. The competition will include winners from each school site. The top two finalists in each division will qualify for the state competition in the spring.
