The Patterson Joint Unified School District received a $100,000 grant to strengthen career readiness for students.

The San Joaquin A+, a group of educators, business leaders, local residents and philanthropists, awarded the two-year grant. It will fund a career navigator position and enhance student participation in career-connected learning activities in partnership with San Joaquin A+.

“We are really excited to continue the work we started with SJA+. The addition of a career navigator will play an integral role in helping us build meaningful connections between education and industry, while ensuring students have the support and experiences needed to reach their full potential,” said Kym Brinkman, program director for career technical education, in a press release.

“By investing in career-connected learning, we are helping students see a clear pathway from the classroom to future careers and gain professional skills in the process.”

The efforts aim to expand job exploration, workforce readiness and learning experiences, preparing Patterson students for college, their careers and beyond.
