For the first time since the 2020-21 school year, Stanislaus State University has seen an increase in students. Enrollment is up about 1% from the 2024-25 year: 9,398 students this year, from 9,295 last year.

The California State University system experienced a postpandemic systemwide decline in students. It began recovering from the enrollment slide during the 2024-25 school year. CSU Stanislaus began joining that upward trend only this year. Enrollment stayed above 10,000 between 2017-2021, but has dipped into the 9,000s since.

Data provided by the university shows that the top five most enrolled majors at Stanislaus State over the last five years have consistently been psychology, business administration, liberal studies, criminal justice and biological sciences.

Computer science and sociology followed, and public health has had a sharp enrollment increase over the last five years. Physical sciences, art history, gender studies, ethnic studies and cognitive studies had the lowest enrollment, excluding majors that had zero enrollment any year.

Latino and Hispanic students, white students and Asian students are the most represented demographics, comprising 88% of the student population. Latino and Hispanic students are about 62% of the student population, white students are about 18% and Asian students are about 8.2%.

According to CSU Stanislaus’s institutional data, the top 10 institutions of origin for its students are Modesto Junior College, Merced Community College, San Joaquin Delta College, Central Valley High School, Pitman High School, Ceres High School, Turlock High School, Modesto High School, Enochs High School and Downey High School.
