Several friends who attend Beyer High School gave their afternoon Sunday to encourage others also to give.

The eight — Paul Saia, Gianna Holly, Noah Wingate, Nicole Mulder, Maggie Miller-McCain, Noah Yaco, Chris Isiordia and Kathleen Coronado — set up a table along Sylvan Avenue at Beyer Community Park.

Calling their operation Dashing Donations, they accepted new and used clothes, canned food, blankets, hygiene products and any items of faith. Everything is to be given to The Salvation Army Modesto Citadel Corps to aid the homeless it shelters.

The students represent no particular club or activity at the school. “We’re just a group of kids who thought maybe we can make a difference in our community,” Yaco said. They distributed fliers in neighborhoods and shared a digital version.

Though their table was up for just the afternoon, the students gladly will accept donations through the end of the year, Yaco said.

To give, call 209-556-8711 or email noahyaco04@gmail.com.
