‘Fun in the Sun’ is a hot ticket. Johansen High special ed talent show draws a crowd
It was “Fun in the Sun” at Johansen High School in Modesto on Thursday.
For the 15th year, the school’s special education department presented a talent show to the general school population and staff.
The show continues Friday, with song and dance taking center stage.
“This is our 15th annual show,” instructor Tony Heintz said. “All the other staff and students on campus really look forward to coming every year.”
In fact, the show was the victim of its own success. “We had to increase our show days to accommodate more classes,” Heintz said. “A couple years ago we kind of exceeded the seating limit for the hall.”
Students have been working on their acts since they returned from winter break.
“It’s always a great time and our students really enjoy putting on a show,” Heintz said. “Even though they may have some disabilities of their own, they’re very capable of doing a lot of things as well.”
