Concert rock violinist Aaron Meyer brought upbeat tunes to two elementary schools in north Modesto, getting kids clapping, tapping and bouncing to a lively session of live music. Fingers flying, bow striping the air, the virtuoso melded melodies with an electronic echo chamber, using an effects processor he spent time explaining to a rapt young audience. The processor’s inventor, Meyer pointed out, combined studies in math, science and computers with a love of music to generate something entirely new. Then Meyer launched into another song, a smile flitting across his lips in sheer enjoyment. The two concerts, one at Freedom Elementary and one at Mary Ann Sanders Elementary on Monday morning, were an outreach activity of the Modesto Community Concert Association. The association has presented musical performances since 1950.
