Suspect flees scene of crash with one son, leaves other in the car

A Turlock man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash, taking one of his 3-year-old twin sons with him and leaving the other in the car.

The crash occurred at about 3 p.m. at Terminal Avenue and Claribel Road just south of Riverbank.

The suspect reportedly took one of his son’s from the car and started walking north of Terminal, leaving behind his other son and their mother, both passengers in the car, said Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputy Royjindar Singh.

No one inside the suspect’s car was injured but the driver of the other car sustained injuries, Singh said; he didn’t know to what extent.

Law enforcement learned the suspect’s mother lives in Riverbank about two miles from the scene of the crash on Santa Fe Street. Riverbank deputies went to the home and located the suspect, 45-year-old Dewayne Bible.

His son also was at the house and was uninjured.

Bible was arrested on suspicion of hit and run. He also had out of county warrants for his arrest for drugs.
