Woman shot in Ceres remains in critical condition
A woman remained in critical but stable condition Friday, hours after being shot in the head following a confrontation in Ceres.
Police were piecing together what took place Thursday night after a shooting followed an argument between occupants of two cars, according to Sgt. Jose Berber of the Ceres Police Department.
Along with the woman, a man, who was driving the SUV, was shot in the back. He was treated and released from a hospital Friday, Berber said.
The shootout began at 8:03 p.m. Thursday at Caswell Avenue and Fifth Street and continued down Central Avenue with shots fired from a dark-colored vehicle.
Berber said Friday no arrests had been made and detectives were continuing their investigation. He said it’s believed that shots only were fired from the dark-colored car.
He said anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636. Tipsters can email tips at www.stancrimetips.org or text them to 274637 by typing “tip 704” with the message. Tipsters can remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward.
