No parole for murderer who said she’d shoot her husband again

A Modesto woman convicted of killing her husband 30 years ago was found unsuitable for parole on Wednesday.

Ruth Anna Willmon, 69, was convicted of murdering her husband, James Willmon, after shooting him to death in 1986.

During her parole hearing, Willmon said if she had to do it over again, she would shoot her husband again “because he was no longer human but rather an alien creature.” She added that there were many other aliens in society, but she would not shoot them.

Stanislaus County Deputy District Attorney John R. Mayne was at the hearing and implored the board to keep Willmon behind bars because of her lack of remorse and “severe danger of reoffending due to the continuing and extraordinary mental health issues.”

The Board of Parole Hearings agreed, denied Willmon’s parole and scheduled her next hearing for 2023.
