Police SUV and sedan collide at major Modesto intersection
A Modesto officer was involved in a two-car accident Wednesday afternoon that partially shut down the McHenry Avenue-Standiford Avenue intersection for about a half hour, according to authorities.
Police Sgt. Chris Adams said the officer was driving a police sport utility vehicle with its lights and siren activated when the collision with a four-door sedan occurred in the intersection about 4:45 p.m. He said the officer and the driver of the sedan suffered minor injuries. Adams said the sedan driver’s passenger was not injured.
Adams did not know which vehicle was on McHenry and which vehicle was on Standiford and which directions they were traveling as they entered the intersection. He said it was too soon to say what caused the accident, which is being investigated by the Police Department’s traffic unit.
