Calaveras deputies find 3,500 marijuana plants on private property
More than 3,500 marijuana plants were removed by sheriff’s deputies in Calaveras County, officials said Wednesday.
The grow was discovered on private property south of New Hogan Dam Road and between Copperopolis and Valley Springs.
A local property owner called law enforcement after he saw two people trespassing on the property. The sheriff’s office conducted an air search of the area and confirmed the marijuana grow.
A search warrant was obtained and deputies found illegal plots of the plants and a campsite. There were no suspects located, but law enforcement said they did find a Mexican national ID card along with several air-powered pellet guns.
