Ceres officer injured in crash

A Ceres Police officer suffered minor injuries and his patrol car was totaled when he collided with another car Tuesday night.

At about 9:30 p.m. officer Matthew Berlier, 33, was driving south on Mitchell Road while Michael Brown Jr., 46, was traveling north. The collision occurred in the intersection at Fowler Road, said California Highway Patrol Officer Chuck Leon.

He didn’t have specifics about how the collision occurred but said the primary collision factor was a right of way violation by Brown.

Both Officer Berlier and Brown complained of body pain but refused medical treatment.
