Salida man arrested in Modesto shooting

The second of two attempted murder suspects was arrested over the weekend at his Salida home.

Richard Westover, 20, was arrested in the 4100 block of Kincaid Lane on Saturday in connection with a Nov. 28 shooting, said Modesto police Sgt. Rick Applegate.

The victim was shot several times in the stomach inside his home in the 2000 block of Oakdale Road. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and provided vague details about what transpired, according to police.

The other suspect, 24-year-old Derrick McConnell, was arrested last month. Both are documented Norteño gang members, Applegate said.

Westover and McConnell are being held on charges of attempted murder, assault with a firearm and burglary.
