Modesto shooter must stay in prison
A 58-year-old Modesto man convicted of shooting an unarmed man following a botched drug deal has been denied parole, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office.
A jury on April 12, 1994, found Darrell Lynn Adams guilty of attempted murder with the use of a gun.
Prosecutors said Adams in December 1993 was working as a pimp and a drug dealer when he shot the man after the drug deal went bad in Modesto.
Deputy District Attorney Merrill Hoult appeared at Adams’ March 22 parole hearing at Solano State Prison in Vacaville, asking the board to keep Adams in prison. She argued that Adams has a lack of remorse and is a risk to the public if released.
The parole board agreed; Adams will be eligible for another parole hearing in 2021. Adams has been denied parole in 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2014.
