Conviction for crashing stolen car in Modesto
A 26-year-old Modesto woman agreed to a plea deal last week and will be sent to prison for crashing a stolen car during a police chase.
Megan Lively on April 20 pleaded no contest to driving under the influence of a drug causing injury and vehicle theft, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office.
About 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 30, police tried to stop Lively as she drove the stolen 2012 Ford Fiesta. Prosecutors said Lively ran the red light at the Tully Road and Briggsmore Avenue intersection, and the compact car crashed with four other vehicles.
The crash caused one vehicle to overturn. Prosecutors said multiple people suffered serious injuries as a result of Lively’s criminal conduct.
After entering her plea last week, Superior Court Judge Scott Steffen sentenced Lively to four years and four months in prison.
This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Anthony Colacito working under a grant funded by the state Office of Traffic Safety.
