Fifth DUI conviction sends Turlock man to prison

A 44-year-old Turlock man has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for driving drunk and crashing into another vehicle while he was on probation for four previous drunken driving convictions.

Anastacio Rosales on Friday pleaded guilty to felony driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 2, Rosales caused a rear-end vehicle collision on Geer Road north of Whitmore Avenue, just east of Hughson, prosecutors said.

California Highway Patrol officers investigating the crash arrested Rosales on suspicion of DUI. Prosecutors said a blood test showed Rosales’ blood alcohol content was .29 percent, more than three times the legal limit.

At the time of the crash, Rosales was already on probation from 2013 for having four drunk driving convictions.

Stanislaus Superior Court Judge Marie Silveira sentenced Rosales to an additional 16 months in prison for violating probation, but that sentence will run concurrently.

This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Anthony Colacito working under a grant funded by the state Office of Traffic Safety.
