Modesto store employee struck in head with gun by robbers
An employee of the Quik Stop gas station and convenience store on the 800 block of North Carpenter Road was struck with a shotgun late Tuesday by one of two men who robbed the business.
About 11:30 p.m., dispatchers received a call that two men entered the store, one armed with a shotgun, the other with a handgun, and took an undisclosed amount of money. At some point, they struck a female employee with the shotgun, causing a visible injury, said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves.
A supervising officer reported from the scene that the employee went into a seizure, Graves said. An ambulance went to the scene, she said, but it wasn’t clear whether the employee was treated only at the scene or transported to a hospital.
The men were described as being in their 20s, one wearing jeans and the other shorts. According to the police report, one was Latino and the other was non-Latino white.
Police are hoping surveillance images will provide better information on the suspects, Graves said. The robbers are believed to have arrived in a dark, four-door car with another person driving, she said.
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward. Tipsters also can text information to Crime Stoppers at 274637; type “TIP704” along with the message.
