Woman in wheelchair shot by a pellet gun in Modesto
A woman in a wheelchair was shot in the leg and behind the ear with a pellet gun Wednesday afternoon in west Modesto, police said.
The woman was on Martin Luther King Dr. near her home on Pine Street at about 1:15 p.m. when the shooting occurred, according to officer Benito Chavez of the Modesto Police Department.
The victim wheeled home and police were called.
The wounds were non-life threatening, but the woman, believed to be in her 50s, was taken by ambulance to Doctors Medical Center.
The alleged suspect in the shooting was a light-skinned man in his 20s, Chavez said. He was in a small black car.
Police were searching the area for the alleged shooter.
