Authorities arrest suspect in Riverbank gas station robbery
Stanislaus County sheriff’s officials on Wednesday announced the arrest of a Bay Area man suspected of robbing a Riverbank gas station at gunpoint.
The armed robbery occurred about 11:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Shell gas station in the 3100 block of Atchison Street.
Sheriff’s officials at the time described the suspect as a black man in his 20s, wearing a black coat, blue pants and a blue knitted-cap based on witness accounts.
The robber walked into the gas station, grabbed some merchandise and then approached the counter as if he were going to pay for the items. While the employee was totaling up the items, the robber pulled out a handgun and demanded all the money from the cash register, sheriff’s officials said.
The robber got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
On Monday, sheriff’s Detective Eric Torres was informed that Stockton police had arrested Enrique Aaron Reyes, 26, of Union City on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Sheriff’s officials said Reyes told Stockton police he was involved in a Riverbank robbery.
Torres questioned Reyes about the Riverbank robbery, and Reyes admitted he robbed the gas station at gunpoint. Reyes on Wednesday remained at the San Joaquin County Jail.
