Probation, police arrest 2 on drug, gun charges in Modesto

A probation search Monday morning in Modesto led to the arrest of two people on drug and weapons charges.

At 10:30 a.m., Stanislaus County Probation Department officers conducting the search at a home on the 1600 block of Teakwood Drive found a large quantity of methamphetamine, said spokeswoman Heather Graves of the Modesto Police Department, whose gang unit officers were called to assist.

Gabriel Bara, 31, was in possession of a large sum of money and “material typically used in the sale of drugs,” Graves said. Yeniria Alfaro, 37, had nearly 6 ounces of meth and a loaded handgun on her person.

Bara was out on bail for another case involving possession of a large amount of meth and a loaded gun, Graves said. He was arrested by probation officers and booked into the county jail on a charge of possession of methamphetamine for sale, parole violation and an enhancement for being out on bail.

Alfaro also was arrested by probation and booked on suspicion of possession of a methamphetamine for sale and possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded, operable firearm.

Both remained in jail Tuesday afternoon, Alfaro on $50,000 bail and Bara on $100,000 bail.
