Man shot in Mellis Park in west Modesto
One person was injured in a shooting late Saturday night in west Modesto. Earlier in the night, two homes were fired upon in the same neighborhood northwest of Briggsmore Avenue and Carver Road.
Around 11:30 p.m., a man reported that he was in Mellis Park off North Martin Luther King Drive when he heard gunshots and then was struck in the left ankle. The victim, who could provide no suspect information, was transported to a hospital for treatment, said Modesto police Lt. Terry Seese.
About 7 p.m. Saturday, shots were fired at a home in the 1800 block of Debonaire Drive, Seese said. Two rounds were found to have struck the house, he said. No one was injured.
About 8:30, shots were fired at a home in the 1700 block of Silvaire Drive, less than a half-mile to the north of the Debonaire house. Officers found some casings in the street, but it did not appear the house had been hit, Seese said. Again, no one was injured.
The only description of the vehicle that may have been involved in both shootings is that it was dark in color.
