Girl reports kidnapping attempt in south Modesto

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department is asking for the community’s help in solving the attempted kidnapping of a young girl in south Modesto.

The 13-year-old girl, walking home on South Seventh Street in December, was accosted by a man who tried to pull her into his truck, deputies report. The girl was able to escape the man’s grasp and get to safety by hiding from him until he left the area. She was picked up by a family member, who then called the Sheriff's Department.

The incident occurred about 4 p.m. Dec. 19. The truck is described as a green mid- to late-1990s Ford F-150 with dents on the driver’s side door and rear bumper, a 49ers headrest and a red-tree automotive air freshener. The man is white or Latino in his 40s with dark, curly hair and a goatee.

Tipsters can also email tips atwww.modestopolice.com/CrimeStoppers, or text them to CRIMES (274637) by typing Tip70 plus the message, and be eligible for a cash reward.
