Two arrested in theft from Riverbank Home Depot

Two people were arrested Tuesday afternoon after a report they were stealing property from the Home Depot store in the Crossroads at Riverbank shopping center at Oakdale and Claribel roads.

The caller to 911 shortly before 1 p.m. was able to give dispatchers a full license plate number of the white Ford Taurus in which the man and woman left the scene.

Dispatch provided the address of the car’s registered owner, and Riverbank Police Services deputies spotted and stopped the Taurus at the intersection of Oakdale Road and Mable Avenue. The driver, Shyanna Lynn Page, 24 of Modesto, and passenger, Caleb Taylor, 30, of Ceres, were detained and a probation search was conducted, said Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Anthony Bejaran.

The search turned up two knives stolen from Home Depot, methamphetamine, a sawed-off shotgun, drug paraphernalia, hundreds of rounds of shotgun shells, several billy clubs and numerous other weapons, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Both Taylor and Page were arrested.

Taylor was booked on charges of petty theft and possession of a sawed-off shotgun, a billy club, illegal fireworks, a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He bailed out of jail Wednesday morning, Bejaran said.

Page was booked on all the same possession charges, as well as being an unlicensed driver. Based on deputies’ investigation, she was not charged with petty theft, Bejaran said.

As of late Wednesday morning, she remained in jail on $25,000 bail.
