Police investigate carjacking at McHenry and Granger avenues
Two males who met with a female friend Saturday in a McHenry Avenue parking lot became victims of a carjacking, Modesto police said.
Lt. Rigo DeAlba said the victims arranged to meet their friend about 8 p.m. outside the former Long’s Drug store at McHenry and Granger avenues. When they arrived in a Ford Explorer, the woman said she would like them to meet her friends, and then two men stepped from her vehicle into the back seat of the Explorer.
One of them pulled a gun and ordered the victims to get out and lay on the ground, police said. The two men drove off with the Explorer, and the woman left in her car, leaving the victims in the parking lot.
DeAlba said the stolen vehicle was recovered Sunday morning behind the Toys R Us on Sisk Road. No arrests have been made. It appears the incident was drug-related, he said.
