Third suspect arrested in Modesto home-invasion robbery
Modesto police on Sunday arrested the third of four suspects involved in a home-invasion robbery at a McHenry Avenue motel last month.
Vince Potts, 49, was arrested at a home in the 2200 block of San Blas Court, three days after his girlfriend, 27-year-old Moniquie Pollard, was arrested at the same location.
Department spokeswoman Heather Graves said Pollard was with the victim in a room at America’s Best Inn on Dec. 28.
The victim told police Pollard took a call in the bathroom of the hotel room, then said she needed to leave and asked for money so she could get a cab.
The victim gave her a $100 bill and she left, but a short time later, the door opened again.
A man entered and pointed a gun at the victim’s head, while another man gathered the victim’s belongings and a third, identified as Potts, acted as lookout, Graves said.
She said the victim knew Potts to be Pollard’s boyfriend.
The suspects stole the victim’s wallet and cash, laptop, computer monitor and cell phone.
After they left, the man went to the front desk and asked the clerk to call police.
Officers broadcast over the radio a description of the car in which the suspects fled, and a California Highway Patrol officer spotted it, Graves said.
The car pulled over and all the suspects ran.
Officers caught one of the suspects at the scene. His name was not available.
Pollard was arrested Jan. 1 and Potts was arrested Sunday. The fourth suspect remains at large.
All face charges of home-invasion robbery and conspiracy.
Graves said officers recovered most of the victim’s property.
