Wheelchair-bound woman robbed in Modesto
Modesto police arrested a man suspected of robbing a woman in a wheelchair Sunday afternoon.
The woman was near Enslen Park in central Modesto when the man approached her and asked if she had a lighter, said police spokeswoman Heather Graves.
When she said no, he asked if he could use the cell phone she had in her hand.
Again she said no, but the man snatched the phone out of her hands and left on his bicycle.
Graves said police were dispatched to the area and found the suspect near Graceada Park.
Officers searched the suspect and found the victim’s cell phone, as well as prescription pills and syringes.
Kyle Stevenson, 24, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, drug charges and warrants related to drugs, Graves said.
