Woman arrested in Modesto stabbing

A woman police say aided two men in an assault and robbery on New Year’s Day was found in a vacant apartment on Ninth Street on Sunday.

The victim was sitting in the passenger seat of a car next to a man in the driver’s seat at about 2:30 p.m. on New Year’s Day, said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves. They were parked in front of La Loma Liquors when approached by a woman the victim knew, identified as 32-year-old Shandra Green.

While the victim was talking to the woman, an unknown man got into the back seat of the car and began stabbing him in the back of the head, Graves said.

The man in the driver’s seat then joined in the assault and they took the victim’s wallet.

The victim, who somehow managed to get away and call police, suffered lacerations to the back of his head and forearm and was treated at a local hospital, Graves said.

He identified the woman for police officers, who found her in the apartment in the 600 block of Ninth Street on Sunday afternoon.

Green was arrested on suspicion of robbery. The men involved remain at large.
