Police deploy DUI patrols in Modesto

Officers will look for drunken drivers Saturday night with roving saturation patrols in Modesto.

The patrols are made up of officers assigned to look solely for drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs in areas with frequent of DUI crashes or arrests, according to Modesto police.

Officials said the patrols will focus on areas with a high frequency of DUI-related crashes or arrests.

The DUI enforcement is funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety.
