Empire shooting leaves 24-year-old dead
A 24-year-old man died after being shot Thursday night, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.
About 8:45 p.m., deputies went to the 100 block of Church Street, responding to a 911 report of a person shot. They found the victim with one gunshot wound to his upper body.
The man was taken to a local emergency room, where he later died. The department has not released the victim’s name, said Sgt. Anthony Bejaran, or information on anything that preceded the shooting.
Detectives worked throughout the night processing the crime scene and interviewing witnesses, he said, but still need to speak with others. There is no information on the shooter at this time.
